Brigani “Briggs” Amante, MD, PT is an experienced board-certified nephrologist, internal medicine physician, and kidney and pancreas transplant specialist in The Woodlands, Texas and surrounding north Houston areas. Dr. Amante completed his medical schooling at the University of St. Thomas. He underwent Internal Medicine residency training at Quinnipiac University / St. Vincent’s Medical Center, and then he went to the University of Colorado and completed his fellowship training in Nephrology, Nephrology Research, and Kidney and Pancreas Transplant.
Dr. Amante began his career by working at the largest living donor transplant program in the U.S. at the Methodist Transplant Institute at Methodist Hospital Specialty and Transplant in San Antonio. He subsequently moved to the north Houston area to be closer to the rest of his family. Dr. Amante is an avid practitioner of evidence-based medicine and is an expert in interpreting scientific data. He incorporates the best available research evidence into his medical practice to help achieve the best outcomes for his patients. He has published research in Nephrology, dialysis, transplant, and hypertension.
Dr. Amante enjoys teaching and has remained passionate in the education of physicians and other healthcare team members on how to efficiently incorporate the best scientific evidence into their clinical practice. His pioneering work on “ Interpreting Evidence: An Innovative 5-Step Approach for Clinical Application,” has revolutionized and simplified the process of determining the best screening/diagnostic tests and/or treatment option/s for patients.
